We should know by Tuesday what our hours of operation, days of operation, and noise limits will be (which will tell us how much sound-proofing that we need to install before opening).
So by Tuesday we should be able to calculate an opening date, presuming that the City isn't just stalling us and is being sincere in their discussions/process.
Hope it works out for you guys because then it works out for us haha. Had fun last night talk'n it up with terri or terry. Cant wait to see what happens! Again thx for coming out and opening the store for us ! ! ! ! - DJ Pazzo
I need two volunteer drift drivers for a City Council demonstration at U-Drift on Monday, November 9, at 4 PM central time. Cars will be provided for you.
If U-Drift provides gas money (from Atlanta) I can get you two drivers. I'm also sure we could work out a deal for drivers with prepared drift cars that will put on a good show.

You'll be fine dude, just apply what you've learned and remember that different cars have different levels of where they want to be pushed. Not every car will drive like your S13 (thank God, LOL) and take your time with pulling the tail out and in the transitions at first until you get used to how the weight shifts.
Nah, you should be good bro. We'll get some runs in to get you used to what you're sliding, if anything, you know I'll be there to lend any advice you may need/want (2 heads are better than one and such) and you know what you're doing, you just have to apply it in moderation (for grander or lesser) into whatever else you'll hop into.
Dude, if you can make it. Come on out! I'd love to see some people out there cheering us on, make us feel like we know what we're doing out there, LOL!
Man I wish I could come by. Sadly I'm stuck at work till six.
You're going to miss quite a show! ABC TV is covering this demo on Monday.
Also, we've added 147 new sound barriers (giant round bales of hay) already, and we had some **GREAT** sound tests today.
I talked to Jerry Webb this afternoon about our sound tests. He's the president of the nearby Windsor Neighborhood Association until December 2009, and his comment to me was "I've had no calls today, and I didn't hear a thing."
Tomorrow we'll add more than 100 bales of hay to the back side for even more sound-absorption.
So about how long will the demo be? Don t get off work til 5.
There will be a drifting session at 4 PM and then again at 5 PM. We'll probably be driving from 4 PM until 5:30. Then we have a City council meeting over at City Hall at 6 PM.
OK gentlemen! Drivers' Meeting at 3:30 PM. Skidpad will be wet to address the City Council's most dire fear of drifting being "dangerous."
Cars will enter at the blue fence mesh gate, pull up to the interior gate/fence inside, and all but the first car in line will turn off their motors.
At 4 PM Central Time, the first car in line will get a decibel check, then be allowed through the interior gate to the staging area for the rest of the tech check, and with the skidpad clear it will be given the checkered flag for a rolling start (no gratuitus burnout at the start this time in order to address the City Council's noise concerns).
Make the course run, stop at the "Tons-of-Fun" white-painted stop box, then crawl to the back of the line of cars and turn off your motor. Repeat until 5:30 PM.
City Council meeting is at 6 PM. I have to attend, as you might well imagine!
LOL! Joe has a course-mark named after him! Hell yes!
So . . . .no . . . .burnouts? Awwwwwww . . .
Nah, in all seriousness, this is going to be very fun and I can't wait. I'd like to thank U-Drift, again, for the opportunity to have some fun and get some sideways going, especially for such a distinguished audience.
I was going to take off work early and ride over to watch but someone scheduled a meeting this morning from 4:00p - 5:00p. Y'all please take some good video and post it up somewhere. Thanks!

So, I think it went pretty well? How did the meeting go, and how's the Council's attitude now? Any different? I know the members that were taken for a ride sure had some big smiles on their faces afterwards :)
I didn't get there until about 445 but it seemed to go well. Even talked to one of the council members . . . his exact words were "it's different and exciting." So I take that as a good thing. He said he didn't ride but did enjoy watching it.
I can understand their concern, but I hope we made a great impression upon them. Chris really seems like he's working hard to satisfy everyone and all their problems with the facility, and for that sir, I thank you :D
Wow! Thank you to all above for a GREAT event and for a great outcome! 4 out of the 5 city councilors voted for us to open up immediately at tonight's city council meeting, and the mayor voted for us, too.
This was a very impressive, positive victory for all concerned. We addressed the noise concerns with 487 new sound barriers. Moody police had 4 listening posts set up surrounding U-Drift tonight, and they were unanimous that no engine noises could be heard outside our sound barriers. They did hear tire screaching, but it was within acceptable limits.
ABC TV had some amazing drifting footage of our volunteer drivers at the demonstration event today, too. Very nice TV report.
I'll meet with the Moody firechief again tomorrow to go over emergency access, and I'll meet with Moody's city attorney to finalize our contract negotiations so that we can open up...perhaps as early as the end of this week!
Life is good. I noticed, and I appreciate, what y'all have done by supporting me.
